Provide a listing of the insect/disease problems found and restrict stock movement when necessary.

Recommend remedial actions and control strategies. 

Certify raw agricultural   products (grain, processed products, wood) for foreign shipment. 

Assist in USDA with quarantine survey/control programs:  Gypsy Moth, etc.

Identify gypsy moth populations in the Chicago area and vicinity. 

Supervise 12 college students monitoring gypsy moth pheromone traps throughout the Chicago area.

To dig Zimmerman Pine Moth larvae from infested pine trees. 

Recorded numbers of  viable/non-viable Zimmerman Pine Moth larvae and pupae. 

Identify the beginning of the adult flight period of the Zimmerman Pine Moth.

By discovering when (degree day accumulation - 30 degree base) the adult moths were in flight...treatment timings were greatly improved.
